Texture shaped by light
The project explores how traditional craft references can be translated into a contemporary lighting object. Inspired by the woven patterns of wicker baskets, the design reinterprets this familiar language through a clear and architectural geometry.
A series of vertical cuts define the structure, creating a rhythmic surface that recalls the logic of weaving while allowing light to filter through the form. This interplay between solid structure and luminous openings gives the piece a dynamic visual character.
Material contrast reinforces this idea. Natural rope wraps the exterior surface, introducing warmth and tactile richness, while a coloured inner diffuser softens and transforms the light. Together, both elements create a layered lighting effect where texture and illumination interact.
The result is a suspended luminaire where craft memory and contemporary design meet, creating an object that feels both familiar and quietly sculptural.
