Lent for Martinelli

Comfort shaped by form

Lent is a lamp that embraces both light and acoustic comfort, transforming a functional requirement into a quiet architectural presence. The design investigates how form can mediate between illumination and sound, creating objects that are both visually refined and acoustically effective. Its volumes arise from a study of how surfaces can shape light and absorb noise, generating a presence that is calm, composed and materially expressive. Lent becomes a spatial element that enhances comfort by balancing technical performance with formal simplicity.

The objective was to design a lighting solution that also addresses acoustic comfort. The challenge was to integrate sound absorption without compromising the lamp’s visual expression or light quality. Lent had to be both effective and elegant, bringing cohesion between geometry, material and performance.

The development process focused on the relationship between surface, light and acoustic behavior. By using materials with sound-absorbing properties and shaping the volumes to optimize both light diffusion and noise control, the form emerged as a dual-purpose solution. Proportions were refined to balance visual lightness with acoustic depth, ensuring that the lamp performs well technically while maintaining a calm presence in space.
